Welcome to the Precision Nutrition Lab
Our research interests lie in the genetic, biological, cultural determinants that influence diet and metabolism and, ultimately, health and disease risk across population groups. We have particular interest in the molecular systems that govern metabolism and energy balance in pregnancy, their effect on health and disease across ethnic groups, and the information they provide to favourably influence maternal and offspring health in later life. Our research is most easily divided into two areas — (i) teasing apart molecular and biological regulators of metabolism, and (ii) pairing our molecular-level understanding with appropriate lifestyle habits to moderate disease risk. We use diverse set of tools that pairs observational and intervention studies with nutritional and molecular epidemiological tools, and high-dimensional omics’ data (genomics, metabolites, etc.) to accomplish this and continue to advance our level of understanding and inform equitable care policies.
